A Stressful Time
If you’ve had to pack up your entire life and head off to college, I don’t even have to tell you how stressful move-in day can be. It took two hours just to cram everything into my parents’ car, for starters.
The reality of the situation set in once our car was on the road. I was actually leaving for college…until we had to turn back because I had forgotten my iPhone. Two U-turns later, and finally we were on our way.
For the entire ride, my parents rattled off list after list of reminders: look out for danger, don’t skip class, make good friends, don’t lose your stuff. It was a lot to keep up with.
We made it to campus, unloaded, and managed to find my dorm room. I got to meet my roommate, who seemed really cool.
My dad was already going on and on about how my things weren’t cheap and my mom wouldn’t be around to keep track of them for me. Luckily, something we found in our new room placated him.

Obviously, I thought everything about our room was cool. Yeah, it was tiny, but there’s nothing like your first place on your own.

Privacy

My parents call me organizationally challenged, and they’re not wrong. Having our in-room safe has been a lifesaver when it comes to getting organized and handling everything on my own, and that feels really great.
Our safe has also saved me a ton of time. I don’t have to spend time packing up everything in my room when I leave for holiday breaks; I can leave a lot in my safe.
Plus, I haven’t wasted much time looking for my stuff either. (You know those mad dashes to find your phone or keys when you’re already late for class? Ugh.) I always know exactly where to find my things.
